         cryptophyceae. iv. fungi. the molds, mildews,
         mushrooms, puffballs, etc., which are variously grouped
         into several subclasses and many orders. the lichenes
         or lichens are now considered to be of a mixed nature,
         each plant partly a fungus and partly an alga.
