garbellare to sift; cf. sp. garbillar to sift, garbillo a
coarse sieve, l. cribellum, dim. of cribrum sieve, akin to
cernere to separate, sift cf. e. discern; or perh. rather
from ar. gharb=al, gharbil, sieve.
