   a duck glaucionetta clangula, found in northern europe,
   asia, and america. the american variety var. americana is
   larger. called whistler, garrot, gowdy, pied widgeon,
   whiteside, curre, and doucker. barrow's golden-eye of
   america glaucionetta islandica is less common.
