   swi^ft"~er; superl. swiftest. as. swift; akin to
   sw=apan to sweep, swipu a whip; cf. swimacfan to move
   quickly, to revolve. see swoop, v. i., and cf. swivel,

      celerity or velocity; fleet; rapid; quick; speedy; prompt.
